Kung Fu Panda 4
Kung Fu Panda 4 (2024) This was lackluster compared to the other Kung Fu Panda movies. While not terrible, it was very vanilla. There were a couple of jokes that made me snicker, but some jokes were too drawn out. Did this movie have to be made? No it didn’t. That’s what you need to know. But this was made to possibly kickstart another sequel. Good voiceovers from a lot of famous actors. Jack Black is always good and Dustin Hoffman as well. Viola Davis also good as the villain. However, Awkwafina still is annoying. She’s been popping up lately in a lot of things, and it’s not good. Not…

Cabrini
Cabrini (2024) Made by the same studio that made Sound of Freedom, this film takes a look at the life of St. Frances Cabrini, the first canonized American saint in the Catholic Church. On it’s own, it’s an ok movie, with some good but a lot that was very average. As far as a centering around a religious figure, they tried to remove all of the religion associated with the real life person. This was not good in general, and this could’ve been better. The lead actress, Cristiana Dell’Anna, did an excellent job as Cabrini, which was the highlight of the whole movie. There was also John Lithgow who was…

Dune: Part Two
Dune: Part Two (2024) This movie had so many expectations, because the first one (Dune: Part One) was a very pretty prequel. In the rare instance of a movie depending on the sequel, this sequel lived up to the hype. And through four years of the 2020s, this is already one of the best. Has the competition been that great? No. If this came out, say, 15 years ago, this would’ve been a solid movie. But we have been starved for even a decent movie the past 10 years, and this one delivered as one of the better ones of the past decade. A lot of famous actors were in…

The Flash (movie)
The Flash (2023) This movie should’ve been another Batman movie. But no, they had to make it about the Flash, who’s character isn’t that great. It might’ve been better if it wasn’t Ezra Miller, but we won’t know. This one of course, goes off with the whole multiverse idea, and this was another tiresome attempt at the trope. The CGI was for the most part, was worse than some games from 2005. There were some good points, with Michael Keaton as Batman again (which was the only reason everyone saw it), but that was pretty much it. The end scene was really stupid, unless they really are going to do…

Feel Again – Armin Van Buuren (Album Review)
I’ve recently gotten into trance music, with the help of the podcast A State of Trance hosted by Armin Van Buuren and Ruben de Ronde. Why not start listening to some of the main host’s music? Well, since he is the host, he promoted some of his music for his latest album from the podcast, so I decided to buy it. Since this is a big album (34 songs), it was split into three cds, so I’ll do rating for each cd (“part”) and of course the songs as well (I’m not including the extended versions). Feel Again Artist: Armin Van Buuren Released: March 31, 2023 Genre: Electronic, Pop Style/sub-genres:…

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 The last of this trilogy was a solid one, although still not as good as the first one. It was a good and fitting end to this set of Marvel movies, and this will be looked at as one of the better Marvel franchises. This one was good, although I couldn’t help but feel something was a little off, but it didn’t ruin the experience. I am a little annoyed, however, (spoilers) that they are going to have Starlord return, but presumably no James Gunn. But we will have to see for that. A lot of great actors in these movies. Not much to…

Uncharted (Movie)
Uncharted There’s two sides to this film. If you didn’t know, Uncharted is based off of the video game series of the same name. If you have played the games, this is a waste of time. If you haven’t played the games, this is a generic adventure movie. The only selling point for this was the Uncharted name and Tom Holland attached to it. And instead of acknowledging the characters from the games, they made them almost completely different characters. That’s disrespect. The only upside to this movie was the ok action sequences. Other than that, don’t waste your time with this one. Good actors, wrong roles for the movie.…

The Super Mario Bros. Movie
The Super Mario Bros. Movie This was overall a very fun, not boring, inoffensive film for the whole family, which seems to be a rarity these days. Disney is starting to be obsolete lately, with movies like this one coming out. It broke the record for biggest opening for an animated film, beating Frozen 2 from four years ago. Great casting choices for this one. People thought it was really weird when they heard Chris Pratt use his normal voice for Mario, but the writers did it in a way in which it actually worked. Anya Taylor-Joy and Charlie Day are great as well. Jack Black wasn’t the first person…

What is a Woman? (Documentary Review)
This was my reivew of What is a Woman?, one of the most talked about films of 2022. It’s still relevant today, almost going a year on this important piece of work.
